[Sax.4]Londonderry Air/ Tradirional | Arr. Eiji Umeda

“Londonderry Air” (also known as an Irish folk song from the County Derry region) is a melody that originates from Northern Ireland’s County Londonderry. It is said to have been transcribed in the 19th century by folk song collector Jane Ross, and later became widely known through numerous arrangements and adaptations by various composers.

Because the tune she recorded originally had no lyrics, many different versions have since appeared under various titles. Among them, the song “Danny Boy,” which expresses a parent’s love and sorrow for a son departing for war, is perhaps the most famous.
